Born in Japan, Yo SATO has always been deeply influenced by Manga and SF animation culture since her early age. After graduated from Master of Fine Arts at Tama Art University of Tokyo, she started her career as a freelance journalist and visual artist while teaching the theory of media and visual image at universities and colleges in Tokyo.
In 2000, Yo found an art-unit SMILETRANS, which produces a specific dance area in clubs and music festivals with fantastic decorations and illusional visual effects. SMILETRANS has Joined most major music festivals in Japan such as Hotaka Music Festival featuring Juno Reactor/ Audio Active, Space
Gathering featuring Masa/ Ree.K/ Mike Maguire, Smatrart Art Festival featuring EYE Yamatsuka/Ray Castle, and Balearic Sunrise featuring The Muses Rapt/ Tsuyoshi, and so on.
Moving to New Delhi, currently she performs as a VJ at OM TIGER OM, Sound Tamasha, From New York to New Delhi, and Delitronica. With it's surrealistic images like collages, and the techniques of zapping and mixing the flood of unexpected images, her play leads you to a fantastic world.
Also, she is known as a writer for articles about club music, and a editor who compiled a book about studies of rave culture "Psychedelic Trance Party Handbook" (2002) and "Total Solar Eclipse Guidebook"(2006). At the moment, she writes regularly serial column on Japanese club music magazine "POSIVISION" reporting real club culture in India.
